Okay so it looks like I fell off the planet. Promise - I'm still here. The last four years have been ... hard. There's no other word for it. Everything is fine. I'm fine, but I've been the caregiver of my mom who has Dementia. Between her needs, work, etc I seem to have lost control of my time. I am still writing and am trying hard to get back to my blog.

In case you weren't aware Phaze and HSWF which where under the Mundania Umbrella have closed. I was smart enough to get my titles back before all this happened. I'm happy to say the three books I sold to HSWF have been picked up by Melange Books and are available through their Satin Books imprint. I have even sold a new title to them called Magical Quest due out in 2022

I have also been lucky enough to find a publisher for my Vespian Way series. I'm now with Blushing Books under the name of Bethany Drake. I have five titles out with them right now and am close to submitting two more. There's Desire's Destiny, Desire's Duty and Desire's Promise. Then there is two in my werewolf series, Tears of the Queen and Legend of the Tears. I have just finished the rough draft of the third book in the series and have plans for a fourth one the moment I submit it.

I'll probably still be sporadic here on the blog. Unless I win the lottery and can hire someone to help me I can't avoid it, but know I'm still here still working hard in the background and am hoping to do better at keeping my blog alive.

What Happened to Barbara Donlon Bradley part 2

So when I stopped writing I worried I wouldn't go back to it. I had finished with the first draft of my tenth book in the Vespian Way series. Normally I do take a break between books, but it's only a few days before I'm right back at it. With this break it was months.  Like I said part of it was morning for the loss of my mother-in-law. It got really hard on us toward the end, and I used writing to escape. Suddenly I didn't have the stress that pushed me to write.

I also haven't been feeling the warm fuzzies from my publisher recently. The sales just haven't been there and it's not from lack of advertising. I've decided to pull my titles. Now my questions are what do I do with them. Should I go the route of self publishing? Should I try to find another publisher? This are big questions and the reason I think I stopped writing. I don't know what to do.

I have no idea on how to self publish, how to find covers, getting ISBN numbers. It's all a bit daunting. So is finding a new publisher. Having to submit this books through another editing process isn't easy. What if the editor doesn't like my writing style?

I'd love to hear from you guys to see what you suggest.

Welcome Dorothy Bell Back!

Dorothy A. Bell, author of Oregon historical novels: The Reprobate, The Cost of Revenge, Dance Hall Road and contemporary romance, Reinventing Mica Avery.

I was born in Iowa and moved to Oregon with my mother, father and older sister when I was ten. So I think it’s safe to say I’ve been and Oregonian most of my life.

I’ve known for a very long time that I am a writer. When a work is published, then and only then do I declare myself an author—it’s a process I go through each time. It keeps me humble and grateful.

I believe every writer has their own distinct writing style and methodology. I couldn’t say what mine is. I write to entertain myself first, so I have to have humor. I’m a people watcher, so my stories are character driven. And romance, got’ta have some steamy romance in there somewhere or the story doesn’t interest me.

In all of my stories, I portray my leading ladies as strong, independent, intelligent women who command admiration and respect. The heroes of course, have problems with strong, independent, intelligent women, that’s where the humor comes in to play. As a writer, it’s fun to manipulate through dialog and inner action the transformation of a man’s opinion to bring about his acceptance and inspire attraction.

I have a favorite parable I’d like to share:

Once upon a time there was a woman who’d won over a hundred cooking contests in one year and received multiple blue ribbons and trophies. When asked how she’d done it, she answered simply, “I entered.”

That’s it, right there, if you love to write, submit your work. Refine it, learn all you can about plot development, the difference between character driven and plot driven stories, point of view, passive voice, showing instead of telling, the mechanics of course. And for God’s sake be human in whatever you write. Even monsters have feelings. Reveal the truth in your characters. Expose their soul, their underbellies.

I have many, many more books in me. They’re coming as fast as my editor and my publisher can get them out there. Next one up will be an Oregon historical titled, The Widow’s Ferry. A story of three men: one an abuser, one a user, and a married man with a secret past. They all want one woman—a strong survivor.

You’ll find old family photos, poems and all my buy links on my blog, plus a link to a free full length Oregon historical novel and several free short stories that I’ve put up on Amazon cloud for easy access.

You can find all of my books on Good Reads, Kobo and Amazon. They are Kindle and Nook, e-book friendly.

Please welcome my latest guest Ronna Gage!

I want to welcome Ronna Gage First I’d love you to introduce yourself.

I am a Romance author in the Erotic genre. At this time I am writing my first Vampire Romance Series Ronna Gage Vampire Chronicles.

Now I have a few questions for you – I have found readers do like to know fun things about us writers.

1.) Who is your favorite villain – it can be from a book (even one of yours), movie or TV show. And why?

My favorite villain. I keep coming back to the same guy.  Craig Bierko, he played Timothy in the Long Kiss Good Night.

2.) Who is your favorite character out of your books? Why?

Marty Novak, my hero vampire. He’s nothing I’ve ever created, or associated with before. He is the angry part of me, the wild side of me, and the loving part of me at the same time in a twisted inner turmoil of mess.

3.) What do genre do you write? What made you pick that one?

Right now I write in the Erotic/Erotica Romance genre. I chose it because at the time it was wide open for new authors. At first I was a little uncomfortable saying the euphemisms for body parts, but Sylvia Day told me if you can think it you can write it.

4.) What are you working on now?

I am working on the third installment of the vampire series. Living the American Dream. The second installment, Coming to America should be out the latter part of June.

5.) What got you to start writing?

I am a day dreamer, so I started writing my little adventures down and my cousins told me to write them down, so I did, and the rest as they say is history.

6.) Where do you get your ideas from?

Day dreams, at night when I cannot get to sleep, I tell myself a story, or teach a class. I used to be a teacher and would go over what needed to be done for the next day’s lesson in my head. Many times I put myself in the book.

7.) What would people who read your work be surprised to find out about you?

I’m strong, independent, and I fight for it. I am legally blind so what I used to do, like teaching, I can’t do anymore because students will take advantage.

8.) Do you have any special talents?

I can sing. I like to listen to music while I write, next thing I know, I am singing. LOL.

9.) What was the one piece of advice you received when you were an aspiring author that has stuck with
you? Why?

It takes time to build a fan base. Can take up to 5 or 10 years, must stick with it.

10.) If you could talk to any famous figure (present, past or fictional) who would it be and what would
you talk about?

I would like to Jesus Christ. I have a testimony of his life as a teacher.

11.) What song would you say describes your life?

Tom Jones’ She’s a Lady.

12.) If you could come back as any animal – what would it be?

A Savannah cat.

Find me on:

Writing Down the Bones - 10 Things you should know about Writers @barbbradley

I found another great handout in my cleaning. There is no name on it (wait I found it as I went through this - Debbie Macomber wrote this gem) and it says that it would be published in a future issue of Writer's Digest. Since the handout is from one of my binders I'm assuming this has already been published.

We're dealing with the 10 things you need to know about writers (Whether published or not).

I'm going to do 5 this week and 5 next week then in two weeks I'll do the other half of the hand out - 10 things you need to know about editors and since I'm both this should be fun.

As usual I'm going to try to put this into my own words. I love each of these by the way.

1.) We writers are neurotic and don't think it's unreasonable to look for hourly updates on the status of our babies (manuscripts).  I'm just as bad as my authors - when I'm on the author side I figure out how long it should take them to edit and start haunting my e-mail to see if it's there yet...

2.) We need a source of comfort while waiting to hear on those babies. Whether it is our mom holding our hand or our favorite bottle of alcohol doesn't really matter. Both will do in a pinch.

3.) We are experts at looking busy. When my husband asks I tell him I'm writing...he doesn't need to know it could be on twitter or FB. Hmm, I got a minute to check out Pinterest.

4.) We love it when you show the love - fan mail, happy b-day wishes on FB, a free meal...

5.) Here Debbie talks about gossip and how our creative minds can fill in the blanks - and I want to add this little bit - ANYTHING you tell a writer whether it is gossip or not can and probably will end up in a book. Especially if it's funny.

Writing Updates: My Mind is Never Idle #amwriting

This has been a hectic week. The people renting our house moved out and we're getting to ready for sale. I have been spackling holes and dings, wiping down doors and baseboards. Peeling off stickers they had left on the walls. I ache everywhere. This sedentary body isn't used to all this manual labor.

The one good thing about this busy work it allows my mind to have the freedom to do what it wants. I've written ten books in the Vespian Way with each book pushing at me to write it before I was finished with the one before it. There were times when I was working on three different books in different stages of writing or editing at the same time. This last book though started out of necessity. I knew I needed to write to keep me sane. As I've been working on it I thought maybe I was done with the series for a while and I would have time to work on something else.

Nope.

While I've been working on getting my old house ready for sale I was slapped with an idea.

Now understand I'm one of those authors that doesn't care for a series where the hero and heroine are constantly pulled apart. I don't want to do that with Heather and Storm, but I need to keep it interesting which is why there is always something for them to fight.

We, as authors are told to do the worst thing to our characters. The worst thing I can think of is killing one of them off, but I don't want to do that so what can I do? That's when it hit me. What if I create an environment where it looks like I've killed them off - I know I did that in Stolen Desire but this is different - what if I use one of the computers Heather is searching for to cause her and Storm to fall into a coma? What if I have Heather's mind jump into another person's body? What if Storm wakes up from his coma but Heather doesn't because her mind is in another body and he has to deal with the fact that his mate is not there for him or this war they're fighting?

One little thought will grow into a book. I just need a little more time.

Welcome My Latest Guest Kimberly Dean! @kdean_writer #amwriting

I want to welcome Kimberly Dean.  First I’d love you to introduce yourself.

Hello, I’m Kimberly Dean.  I write paranormal romance, contemporary romance, and erotica.

Tell us about your latest release.

Dream Walker is the story of a Dream Weaver who falls in love with a beautiful scientist plagued by sleepwalking.  It’s the second book in my Dream Weavers series, which is based on the Greek legend of the Oneiroi.  The Oneiroi are deamons who bestow dreams upon sleeping humans.  In this particular story, the heroine is being possessed by a Somnambulist, and it’s up to her Dream Weaver to save her.

Now I have a few questions for you – I have found readers do like to know fun things about us writers.

1.) Who is your favorite villain – it can be from a book (even one of yours), movie or TV show. And why?

I’d have to go with CatWoman.  She’s cool, clever, sexy, and not totally evil.  She wears great clothes, gets away with mischief, and has Batman panting after her.

2.) Who is your favorite character out of your books? Why?

I really liked Jason Sloan from Courting Trouble.  He’s a former hockey player turned businessman, yet he still approaches life with the same aggressiveness that got him thrown in the penalty box more often than not.  Roxie from my Triple X series is my favorite heroine.  She grew up in the foster care system and is wild and independent.  For both characters, I like their layers.  They say and do what they want to do, not caring what others think, yet they have such good hearts.  I’d love to take the leaps that they do, but I’m too cautious.

3.) What do genre do you write? What made you pick that one?

I write paranormal romance, contemporary romance, and erotica (that always ends  up being a romance, too.)  I like variety, and most of my story ideas are in the contemporary and paranormal genres.  I started off writing erotica.  That’s where I was able to enter the marketplace, so it still holds a special place in my heart.

4.) What are you working on now?

I have more ideas for the Dream Weavers, so I’m plotting the next book, which is titled Riveting Dreams.  I’m also working on my Courting series, which is contemporary erotic romance. The series is about Luxxor Limited, a high-end escort service that specializes in love matches.  The next book is Courting Danger.  It’s a thriller, and it releases just in time for Halloween.

5.) What got you to start writing?

Years ago, I went through a spate where all I was reading were disappointing books.  I thought to myself, “I could do better.”  That led to “Why don’t you?”  It was a pretty big claim for somebody who’d never written anything creative, beyond what was assigned as homework in school.  So I sat down and gave it a try.  That was eleven years ago, and I haven’t stopped writing since.

6.) Where do you get your ideas from?

Ideas can come from anywhere – songs, television shows, movies, news, myths, just driving, etc.  The important part is to pay attention when my mind starts to wander.

7.) What would people who read your work be surprised to find out about you?

I’m not English.  I’ve written a lot of books for British publishers.  When they edit, they change everything into England’s English.  Readers assume that I live there because of that, but I’m an American.

8.) Do you have any special talents?

I’m a good volleyball setter.  A coach once challenged me to set a ball and have it land on the top of his head. Nailed it. Won a Coke.

9.) What was the one piece of advice you received when you were an aspiring author that has stuck with you? Why?

I published before I found out about writing organizations, critique groups, etc.  This was before the Internet was prevalent.  I jumped into the deep end without knowing any other writers.  I wish I’d had advice.  It could have saved me some wrong turns.

10.) If you could talk to any famous figure (present, past or fictional) who would it be and what would you talk about?

Kim Russo, the psychic medium.  I’d be interested to hear who would come through in a reading.

11.) What song would you say describes your life?

I don’t know if it describes my life, but Rachel Platten’s Fight Song resonates with me.

12.) If you could come back as any animal – what would it be?

A tiger, because they’re beautiful and fierce.

Bio:

When taking the Myers-Briggs personality test in high school, Kimberly was rated as an INFJ (Introverted-Intuitive-Feeling-Judging). This result sent her into a panic, because there were no career paths recommended for the type. Fortunately, it turned out to be well-suited to a writing career. Since receiving that dismal outlook, Kimberly has become an award-winning author of romance and erotica.  She has written for seven publishing houses, both domestic and international, and has recently focused her efforts on the exciting world of self-publishing. When not writing, she enjoys movies, sports, traveling, music, and sunshine. In her mind, a beach, some rock ‘n’ roll, and a good book make for a perfect day.

Blurb:

Research scientist Shea Caldwell has always had a thing for security consultant, Derek Oneiros. He’s smart, handsome, and built like a Greek god. As attracted as she is to him, though, she’s afraid to let him into her bed – because she’s dangerous when she sleeps.

Derek is known among his brothers as “The Machine,” yet his carefully cultivated control is put to the test whenever he’s around Shea. The woman is as beautiful as she is intelligent, but they’ve always kept things professional – until Derek learns why. Shea is sleepwalking again, but what she doesn’t know is that he may be the only one who can help her. For he is a Greek daemon, and he’s charged with protecting her dreams.

With Shea threatened, Derek makes things personal, and their nights together turn steamy and intimate. He’s ready to battle against the Somnambulist that’s been controlling his lover in her sleep, yet is the night creature really causing all the harm? When Shea’s groundbreaking research notes are stolen, it’s clear that other evil forces may be at work.

Dream Walker Excerpt:

He’d let her fall asleep.

It was the first clear thought that ran through Shea’s mind when she opened her eyes. That and the fact that Derek was still with her. His heat pressed against her back, and his arm draped heavily across her waist. They were lying side by side on her bed, her body tucked up close against his.

Yet even as she responded in pleasure, she tensed.

Darkness was falling. They’d spent the day making love, and now the sun was setting. Night was creeping in. She stared at the oil painting that hung on the wall until her nerves began to crawl. Even the littlest thing could set her Somnambulist off—and today had been anything but normal—yet she’d let herself be lulled into sleep.

What had she been thinking?

“There you are,” a deep voice rumbled. The hand against her stomach flexed, and she was pulled more tightly against the big male form behind her.

A muscled thigh slipped between her legs, and Shea arched as a soft kiss was placed on the side of her neck. The intimate embrace had her groaning. Obviously, she hadn’t been thinking. Her brain had been shorted out, disconnected, and thrown right into the bathwater.

How could she have let her guard down like that? The freedom had been fantastic, arousing and intoxicating as fine wine, but how could she have forgotten what had been happening to her? What had happened just this morning?

Had she… Oh, God. Had she done anything in her sleep? With Derek here?

“How long have I been out?” she asked in a rush.

“Not long.”

That rumbling voice was too disconcerting, too sexy. She had to look into his eyes. Tucking the sheet up high under her arms, she rolled over to face him. When she did, her breath caught in her chest. His short hair was mussed, and dark shadows lined his jaw. The bad boy look didn’t fit his character, but it was so incredibly hot she had to press her legs together.

Unable to help herself, she let her gaze drop. She took in the well-drawn lines of his body, his muscled chest and rippling abs, but the sheet sitting low on his hips wasn’t what made her look up again. It was the relaxed look on his face. She’d never seen him so calm, so relaxed, so at ease in the moment. It made her belly warm.

Relaxed had to be good, right? If she’d gotten up and danced zombie pirouettes around the bedroom, he wouldn’t be relaxed.

Or so obviously ready to make love to her again.

Writing Down the Bones: Story Construction and Evaluation the Romance Novel - Part 12 Dialog

Okay now you've gone through your manuscript and it's time to polish that baby of yours. So first we're going to look at dialog again.

Now as you look at it you need to ask yourself these questions:

1.) Does your dialog represent your character properly? Are these words what your character would truly say? Are you using the unique thinking or figure of speech of your character?

2.) Does it help the conflict?

3.) Is it fun? Is the banter quick/clever? Or is it kind of boring?

4.) Does it move the plot along? Does it give necessary information without being a data dump?

5.) Is it filled with emotion from your character? Does it show their state of mind?

6.) Does your action tags/tags stay in your characters POV?

I hope everyone in the USA has a Happy Thanksgiving - those in Canada a belated Happy Thanksgiving and to the rest of the world peace in your life,

Welcome my Newest Guest! Theophilia St. Claire! @theoStClaire

I want to welcome Theophilia St. Claire First I’d love you to introduce yourself.

Hi! I'm Theo, author of M/M fiction and erotica. I live with my amazing family in the South, and I love anime, TV shows, yaoi, cats, and chocolate. In no particular order. I'm still relatively new to the publishing world, and I'm looking forward to hitting some Best Seller lists.

Tell us about your latest release.

My latest release, Three-Way Weekend, is also my first solo release! It's gay ménage, and a very erotic story about Jeremy and Ethan, a couple who want to try a threesome for the first time. However, Jeremy isn't really into the idea until they meet Javier, a sexy stranger from Spain. Jeremy becomes really conflicted because he lusts after Javier, but he still can't let go of his beliefs about what he thinks infidelity is. There's jealousy, insecurities, three sexy men, partying, and of course, lots of sex.

Now I have a few questions for you – I have found readers do like to know fun things about us writers.

1.) Who is your favorite villain – it can be from a book (even one of yours), movie or TV show. And why?

Really tough question to answer. I've seen a lot of awesome villains over the years, but as of late, I'm kind of obsessing over the Biskit Twins from Littlest Pet Shop. They're just so incredibly nasty and mean, so privileged, and literally think the whole world revolves around them. I love the way they talk, and how fashionable they are when they're treating people like the dirt beneath their heels. Let's just say that if I were a mean girl, I'd want to be a Biskit.

2.) Who is your favorite character out of your books? Why?

I love all my characters but Koji definitely takes favorite spot right now. I'm currently working on the story he appears in, and he's so desirable. He can have almost any man he wants on their knees. Koji is confident to the point of arrogance, cool, and totally owns the fact he's a "slut."

3.) What do genre do you write? What made you pick that one?

I write gay erotica, mostly M/M. I have no clue why I started writing in this genre. Ever since I was little, I've liked the idea of two males together. Maybe it was the forbidden or taboo aspect of it. Now that I think about it, it seems more appropriate to say the genre chose me.

4.) What are you working on now?

I am working on an erotic story about sex, obsession, and other questionable themes. And yes, it does include Koji.

5.) What got you to start writing?

When I was eleven, one of my favorite shows didn't end the way I wanted it to. So I decided to re-write the ending. I've loved writing since. Only recently did I look into getting published.

6.) Where do you get your ideas from?

Everywhere. Dreams, conversations I overhear, books I've read, movies I've watched, songs I've listened to, or sometimes they just seem to come to me out of nowhere.

7.) What would people who read your work be surprised to find out about you?

Probably my age ;)

8.) Do you have any special talents?

Not that I know of.

9.) What was the one piece of advice you received when you were an aspiring author that has stuck with you? Why?

"Write, write, write." Sometimes I procrastinate. Sometimes, I even want to do other things and make excuses. But then I remember that if I'm not writing, no one will ever read my stories.

10.) If you could talk to any famous figure (present, past or fictional) who would it be and what would you talk about?

Acheron Parthenopaeus from Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunter series. He's ancient and he knows everything, so we'd talk about life, history, and I'd love to do a compare/contrast between living as a paranormal and living as a human. He's also very easy on the eyes, too.

11.) What song would you say describes your life?

Raul Ferrando - Yearning

12.) If you could come back as any animal – what would it be?

A cat, for sure.

Title: Three-Way Weekend

Blurb:
Lovers Jeremy Taylor and Ethan Mercer are looking for something different on Friday night—a complete stranger to take home for a steamy ménage. Well, Ethan's looking. Jeremy isn't too fond of the idea. He only agrees because it's what Ethan wants and Jeremy loves to please his lover.
When they spot Javier Cervantes, a sexy stranger from Spain, even Jeremy finds him irresistible. But Jeremy will have to put aside his feelings of jealousy and insecurity long enough to have a good time and he's not sure he can.

Author: Theophilia St. Claire

Author Bio: I am a writer of steamy M/M fiction! I'm a Southern girl with a love for writing, reading, and roleplaying. I probably watch too much anime, and I'm somewhat of a nerd. I like my fiction dark and sexy. The darker, the better.

Publisher: Fireborn Publishing

Excerpt:
Midtown Miami's hottest venue, The Stage, was packed as usual on Friday nights. A local band played reggae music while everyone jammed and swayed to the beat. Jeremy and Ethan sat at the bar with chilled shots of Patron. Fortunately, they had a great view of the band. The eclectic, but small bar had minimal seating capacity. Those who arrived late sat outside.
"Hey, Jer, you're being watched."
Jeremy Taylor turned his head to look, only to be stopped by Ethan's strong grip on his forearm.
His lover grinned. "Don't look. You're too obvious."
Jeremy sipped his drink, savoring the smooth liquid sliding down his throat. "How do you expect me to check out the goods if I can't even look?"
Huddled beneath the mood lights, they didn't need to yell over the band's pumping music. Jeremy imagined how they looked--two tall, muscled guys in leather jackets, close enough to kiss, and whispering as if sharing the world's secrets.
The thought made him smile. Or maybe the alcohol had loosened him up. He was already on his third shot of Patron.
"I'll tell you," Ethan said. His gray eyes gleamed with mischief. "Tall, dark, and sexy. Long hair. Ethnic."
Jeremy frowned. "You sound like you're reading from a menu."
"I want him on my menu."
Ignoring Ethan, Jeremy turned to look. Across the room, on a plush, tan couch next to graffiti art paintings, sat the poster man for his wet dreams.
Just like Ethan described: long, black hair cascaded past the newcomer's shoulders, brushing smooth dark tanned skin. The man's muscles rippled beneath tight, denim jeans, and a muscle shirt. The way he sat, with his legs spread casually, showed off an impressive bulge. Jeremy's dick twitched as heat flooded his groin.
"You can pick your jaw up off the floor, lover." Ethan's mocking voice snapped him back to reality. "I take it you like?"
Hell, yes.
"Why did I let you talk me into this again?" Despite the stranger's oozing attraction, Jeremy wasn't too gung-ho about this three-way idea.
In his mind, cheating was cheating. Even if his lover happened to be on the other side of the bed.
Jeremy had reluctantly agreed because he lived to please Ethan. And Ethan always got his way.
Ethan downed another shot. "You're indulging me. You know a ménage is my ultimate fantasy, and you're the conduit to making it a reality."
"I'm definitely indulging you," Jeremy said.
Ethan stood before him, close enough Jeremy could taste the sweetness of his alcohol-laced breath. "Jer, you know I won't do this if you're not up for it. And it's okay. I completely, absolutely, one-hundred and ten percent understand why you wouldn't be."
Yeah, right. The moment he refused to fulfill Ethan's fantasy, he'd make Jeremy regret it.
"Fuck it." Jeremy finished his shot in one gulp.
Ethan grinned. "Yes, let's. Though I think 'him' would fit better at the end of that sentence."
The band switched to another song, a reggaeton number that got the crowd on their feet dancing. Ethan glided through them, his body fluid while moving along to the music. Jeremy followed, still uneasy about this whole thing. He'd never picked up a random guy from a bar when he was single.
Doing it now with his monogamous lover of five years was awkward as shit.
Once they came to a stop at the sectioned-off couches, Jeremy's resolve weakened.
"Mind if we sit here? Bar's kinda full," Ethan said.
The guy chuckled, staring up at them with dark, hooded eyes. He was exotic with chiseled features and a killer smile. Jeremy wanted to feel those teeth in his skin, hard enough to leave imprints.
"Please, sit," he said with a Spanish accent. Jeremy swallowed hard. Ever since he'd studied abroad in Europe, he'd grown a thing for accents.
"I think we will. Won't we, Jeremy?"
Jeremy hesitated. He locked his baby blues on the pair of dark eyes looking back at him. Jeremy wanted him. And he wasn't comfortable with that.

Meet my Latest Guest: Barbara Donlon Bradley...wait a minute me? Again? @barbbradley #amwriting

I want to welcome me! Barbara Donlon Bradley! First I’d love you to re-introduce yourself.

Tell us about your latest release.

Now I have a few questions for you – I have found readers do like to know fun things about us writers.

1.) Who is your favorite author? Do you feel you write like them?

I do have a lot – one of my favorites is Johanna Lindsey. I’d like to think I do write like her. My writing is lighthearted and humorous.

2.) What was your favorite book growing up?

Gosh there were so many but the one that I loved so much that I started rewriting it word for word because I couldn’t find a copy to buy was the Faraway Lurs. It was my first love story and made me an avid reader.

3.) Are you a plotter or a pantser and why did you choose that method?

I’m a pantser. I still plot out but not on paper. It’s all in my head. I’ve also been known to just sit down and write with nothing more than a thought. The plot comes to me as I write. I didn’t choose this method. It chose me.

4.) Do you consider writing a career or a hobby? Why?

It is a career for me. This is something I want to do full time and for the rest of my life. I find I must write. When I don’t I get a little crazy.

5.) What are you working on now?

I’m working on the tenth book of my series The Vespian Way. Heather and Storm are at it again! I also have a werewolf story I want to take out of mothballs and polish. I’ve worked on it a little over the summer but haven’t gotten as far as I wanted.

6.) What one piece of advice would you like to pass on to an up and coming author?

Sit down and try to write every day. Even if you only write a sentence you’ve written something. That will start to add up over time and a lot of times you’ll find you’ll write more than you planned.

7.) If you had the ability to time travel and your first visit was to see a younger version of yourself what would you say to that younger self?

Start writing earlier. I found my passion for writing when I was older partially because I didn’t think I could publish and look at me now. Always believe in yourself and your talent.

8.) You just got a million dollars, whether it’s from an inheritance, the lottery, or a sweet book deal doesn’t matter. What would be the first thing you would buy for yourself?

I would update my charm bracelet. I started it when I sold my first book I have heart charms with the title of my books on one side and the date they were published on the other. I have six on it right now and have a lot more to add.

9.) If you could un-invent one thing in the world what would it be?

I think it would be bras. I hate them…and pantyhose…

10.) What is your favorite movie/TV Show? Why?

I am a huge Star Trek fan. I have all the shows and the movies but I’m also a big Planet of the Apes fan. I have all of the movies and the series as well…this includes the cartoon series. Can you day geek?

Someone keeps altering the timeline and only Sam and Skye are aware of the change. The culprit doesn’t want Heather and Storm together, yet they keep finding each other, no matter how many times it is changed. Everything needs to be righted and the person messing with it needs to be stopped. It’s up to Sam and Skye to get things back the way it should be.

Excerpt:
Their ship landed in the cave they used as their tarmac. Fridon stepped up to them the moment they disembarked.

“Reasta has attacked another one of our posts.” He led them to the main computer room, where everything that had been going on was up and viewable. “We keep moving them and she keeps finding them.”

“How many people have we lost?” asked Heather as she studied the data.

“Five so far.”

Heather swore under her breath. She hated losing their soldiers. “And her people are still attacking?”

“Yes, we can’t stop them.”

Heather turned to Bert. “I’m sorry, but you’re sort of trapped here until we can stop her.”

“Then let me see what I can do to help you end this.”

“Thank you.” Heather turned to her mate. “Storm, each person we lose – ”
****
“What the hell?” Skye ran his hands over the control panel, trying to get a response. Any response. All the power in the ship went out for a second before it powered back up. Now everything worked fine. He wondered what caused that.

“That was odd.” Sam ran a few tests. She looked at him. “Everything seems to be fine now.”

Skye slowed their ship down as they got close to Vespian space. Protocol needed to be followed and he knew who would be the one yelling at him if he didn’t follow it. He sent the proper message and waited for clearance. They’d figure out what happened to the ship once they landed. “I wish I knew what caused that. I’ve never had any trouble with this ship before.”

“We’ll check with Bert once we’re through.” Sam sat in the copilot seat. She pressed a few buttons and cupped her ear. “Skye, security is contacting us.”

“That’s odd.” He activated the communication system. “This is Skye Latimer.”

“What is the purpose for your visit?”

“Purpose?” He looked at Sam. Why were they asking that? “We’re returning home.”

“We have no record of your citizenship.” And they cut the line.

“What are they talking about? Sam leaned forward. “I’ll get them back.”

“Wait.” He reached out and took her hand in his. “I don’t want to end up in a jail while we try to figure out what happened. Let’s leave like we’re supposed to, and once we’re out of their radar, we’ll come back and use the ship’s cloaking device to go to Bert’s ship. He’ll have the answers for us.”

Welcome My Latest Guest Daryl Devore!

I want to welcome Daryl Devore. First I’d love you to introduce yourself.

Hi. *waves at everyone* I’m Daryl Devore and erotic romance writer. I’m Canadian and while I love my country – our winters are just too long and too cold! I love to travel and to shop.

Tell us about your latest release.

FL.E.S.H. is an erotic billionaire story full of confusions, plot twists, humour and a lot of love.

Now I have a few questions for you – I have found readers do like to know fun things about us writers.

1.) Who is your favorite villain – it can be from a book (even one of yours), movie or TV show. And why?

Lord Voldemort – from the Harry Potter series (in case there was somebody on the planet who didn’t know that). He so enjoyed being evil. He made being evil look fun.

2.) Who is your favorite character out of your books? Why?

By chance, it’s Peyton Lang from FL.E.S.H. AT this moment, particularly because of one certain author, billionaires are type cast and all into BDSM. I dislike jumping on bandwagons. My billionaire came from a poorer background and worked his way to wealth, but never lost his humanity and compassion.

3.) What do genre do you write? What made you pick that one?

Erotic romance. In truth – I write romance with heat. I didn’t choose this genre. It was chosen. Confused?? I wrote a romance. Someone suggested I heat it up. I almost died of embarrassment. I can’t write that stuff. What if my mother reads it?!?!?!?  But I gave it a go and ta da, I’m an erotic romance writer with 6 books published.

4.) What are you working on now?

Well, I want to finish a book I started a couple of years ago. It’s currently called Book With No Title - because I’m horrible at titles and I can’t figure out what to call it. It’s 3/4 done. I don’t write in the summer. Canadians summers are too short to sit inside all day. So now that it’s fall, I’m getting ready to jump back in to writing – only – another story is suddenly bumbling around inside my head. It’s another billionaire story.

5.) What got you to start writing?

Nothing. I just am. Writing stories or essays in school came naturally to me. I could never understand why my friends all groaned and moaned when we were assigned one. I just sat down and wrote it. I’ve since discovered many, many people have trouble putting their thoughts onto paper.

6.) Where do you get your ideas from?

Sometimes they are handed to me. Sexy Red Hood – a twisted fairy tale. My publisher was doing a promotion and wanted fairy tales with a twist. I picked Little Red Riding Hood. Brace for Impact, from the Crashing into Love anthology. All the stories are based around a plane crash. And the book with no title, my husband and I were driving somewhere and a song came on the radio and the next thing I knew I had my laptop on my lap and 3 chapters written. Luckily my hubby recognizes me in writing mode and he just kept driving and didn’t speak to me. It seems he stopped at a MacDonalds and got me a Diet Coke which I drank and I don’t remember any of it – I was that involved in the idea.

7.) What would people who read your work be surprised to find out about you?

I am the shyest person around. Twenty people in a room and I’m the last one you’d pick to be the erotic romance writer.

8.) Do you have any special talents?

I’m really good at eating all the chocolate in the room.
9.) What was the one piece of advice you received when you were an aspiring author that has stuck with you? Why?

Just send it in. You can edit the life out of your story. It is never perfect. That was quite a shock to me. I reread my first story a “hundred” times. Critique partners looked at it and so on. After it was accepted for publication, I figured that was it. But then it came back from edits. It looked like a scene from a teenage slasher movie. It dripped red. It survived edits and, obviously, was published. But even now, when I go back to get an excerpt for an interview or blog post – I still find something I wish I would have written differently.

10.) If you could talk to any famous figure (present, past or fictional) who would it be and what would you talk about?

I’d love to sit down, put my feet up and have a chat with the Queen. I’d ask her things like – have you ever had take-out pizza?  (Brits call it take-away.) Have you ever snuck out of the palace and just had a day like a regular person? Of all the famous people she’s met – who was the dorkiest?

11.) What song would you say describes your life?

It’s an oldie – Forever in Blue Jeans by Neil Diamond. Because 90% of my wardrobe is what I can wear with my blue jeans.

12.) If you could come back as any animal – what would it be?

A cat. I could spend all day curled up in the sun then go get dinner handed to me then go curl up by the wood stove. Rough life.

FL. E. S. H.
FLame's Electrifying Sexy Heat

When secrets conflict with dreams, love explodes.

After a mistake by a surgeon’s scalpel shattered Fuchsia Quinn's dance career, she picked up the pieces of her life and moved forward. As the owner of a small, struggling dance school in a depressed neighborhood she supplements her income with a late night job at a dive bar. Haunted by the fear of humiliation, if her secret is revealed, her life was under control until the night he walked into the bar.

Peyton Lang, having run from a bad neighborhood, lives the lifestyle of a successful billionaire. Frustrated that his current multi-million dollar project is stalled, Peyton drops in to LEATHER-ICIOUS for a simple drink and late night entertainment. What he saw was a beautiful redhead. What he found was he wanted her.

After a lusty night with a hot pole dancer, Peyton and Fuchsia's worlds are about to collide.

Excerpt:
As they wandered along the trail, Fuchsia chatted about her childhood, her loving parents, helping milk the cows and deliver the calves. In the shadows of the forest, her face glowed with contentment as she relived her youth. Peyton listened, absorbing the knowledge. One side of him wondered how to use this information to get her to agree to his plan. The other side wondered how to get her to love him. Their kiss had been hot. At that moment, he could have taken her. She was willing. Damn dog. Now, she'd changed to a friend, chatting about her life.

But whatever this was between them, it was different. She wasn't the same as the women he met at dinners. Their forced interest and bored demeanors were pitiful attempts at snagging his attention. Fuchsia simply talked, and he willingly listened.

Spartacus stopped and whimpered. He lifted his nose. Fuchsia griped Peyton's arm. Pride flowed through him. She wanted his protection. He stood still and listened. He heard nothing.

"Stay here." He looked at the dog. "Spartacus, lie down. Stay." Fuchsia sat on a nearby log and tapped her thigh. The dog glanced at Peyton. "Okay." Spartacus raced over and lay against Fuchsia's leg, pinning it to the fallen tree.

Peyton dropped the backpack and dug out the air horn. "Press this. It's gonna be loud. But it'll scare anything off. I'm going that way. Gonna check out what scent he caught."

Fuchsia gripped his sleeve. Her eyes were wide. Fear danced in her gaze.

He patted her hand. "It's okay. I'm not going far, and look at him. He caught a scent, but he's not whimpering. So he's not scared."

Peyton moved off the path and headed in the direction of the cliff's edge. He knew it ran parallel to the path, but he wasn't sure how far away it was. He'd give it no more than five minutes. He wasn't leaving her alone long enough for her to get into trouble. And after listening to her escapades as a child, he knew she attracted trouble like honey drew a bear. He glanced left and right, maybe that wasn't a good analogy for the wilds of Alaska.

The cliff's edge appeared sooner than he expected. He crouched low and peered over it, looking into the ravine. At the bottom he saw a mother black bear and her two small cubs. No wonder Spartacus whimpered. He hurried back to Fuchsia. When he was close enough for her to hear, he shouted, "Come here." He waved, indicating she should join him. She stood, picked up the backpack and walked toward him. Spartacus stayed beside her.

"Keep your voice low." He reached into the pack and pulled out a leash, which he clipped to Spartacus's collar. "When I say get low, crouch down. I've got something pretty cool to show you." He held her hand and led the way back to the cliff. "Okay down. Look. Over there."

Fuchsia knelt next to him. "Oh my God. Is that a bear?"

"Black bear. But it gets better. Wait for it."

The two cubs waddled around their mother and sniffed at something on the ground. Fuchsia squealed. "Babies."

"Cubs."

"Baby cubs."

Close enough.
