Tell us about your latest release.

I’ve recently released an urban fantasy novella titled After Midnight. It’s the prequel to my first novel, House of the Rising Son, and it clears up a few unanswered questions. Here’s the blurb:

1. Who is your favorite villain – it can be from a book (even one of yours), movie or TV show. And why?

Tough first question! It would have to be Zillah, from Poppy Z. Brite’s Lost Souls, for all the wrong reasons. He’s completely amoral, totally gorgeous…and true to who he is from start to finish. And what a finish it was.

2.) Who is your favorite character out of your books? Why?

Cheyenne, the incubus rock star, is hands down my favorite character. He first appears in House of the Rising Son. There are so many reasons I love him. First—incubus AND rocker? They don’t come sexier than that. More importantly, however, is his love for his children. He loves them so deeply, enjoys their quirkiness, and he would die for them.

3.) What do genre do you write? What made you pick that one?

Urban Fantasy and paranormal romance. I write what I like to read. I’ve loved the genre since reading Interview with a Vampire. Man oh man, was that a sexy book.

4.) What are you working on now?

A few things. My writing group is putting out a holiday anthology in late November, so there is some pressure to get a winter-ish short story done. I’m also working on Cheyenne’s continued trials, tribulations and romantic journey in the sequel to House of the Rising Son, and a YA urban fantasy set in the same world.

5.) What got you to start writing?

Believe it or not, I belong to a circle of penpals who have been writing for two decades. We started sharing stories we made up, even circulated an underground newsletter. I started to fall in love with the worlds that were swirling around in my head. Seemed a natural progression to write a book.

6.) Where do you get your ideas from?

Music, mostly. Lyrics and songs set a mood and spark feelings. Mood and feelings start stories. For me, anyway.

7.) What would people who read your work be surprised to find out about you?

They’d be shocked to find that in addition to book boyfriends, I have a couple of WWE boyfriends, too. Randy Orton…Roman Reigns…You probably shouldn’t get me started.

8.) Do you have any special talents?

I seem to make traffic lights turn red. All the time, but especially when I’m in a hurry.

9.) What was the one piece of advice you received when you were an aspiring author that has stuck with you? Why?

“Write what you love.” There is occasionally pressure to write to the market, or to the latest “thing”, or to one editor or another’s wish list. But I know that wouldn’t be my best work, and it wouldn’t be fun for me.

10.) If you could talk to any famous figure (present, past or fictional) who would it be and what would you talk about?

I would talk to Damon, from Vampire Diaries. I beg him to never forget his true nature, as he is far, far sexier when he is his evil, serial killer self. The touchy-feely Damon doesn’t become him. Oh, and a few minutes to bask in the beauty that is him wouldn’t hurt either.

I think I might like to talk to Dean Winchester too, but that would be risky—for him, as I am likely to throw myself at his feet, naked, and not let go.

11.) What song would you say describes your life?

“Voices”, Randy Orton’s theme song. “I hear voices in my head, they council me, they understand. They talk to me.” Fitting for a writer, no?

12.) If you could come back as any animal – what would it be?

Easy. A cat. They’re pampered and nothing is expected of them. Not even walking on a leash. I remember seeing this cat video on Facebook where the cat is looking at her owner while slowly pushing a glass vase off of the table. Yup. That’s me.

EXCERPT:

The choice between staying in on a Saturday night to clean and going to see Cheyenne at his first real gig hadn’t been a complicated decision. He was a world-class rocker who could play the guitar like a fiend and had a voice that made you feel…everything. Or made you horny. And hell if she didn’t love him. Damn incubus.

She reached across him and caressed Jewell’s side. Jewell’s eyes opened and she stared expressionless at the ceiling, hyper-alert to danger. It always took a few moments after resurrecting for her to remember where she was and who was with her, but since moving into their new home it seemed to take even longer.

Ria sighed. She’d do anything if it would help Jewell feel safe enough to die each dawn and awaken peacefully. “All is well, Babydoll. It’s just me. Time to rise and twinkle with the stars.”

“Already?” Jewell scrunched her eyes and blinked as if trying to focus them.

Cheyenne lay his head on the soft swell of Jewell’s belly. “Didn’t we just go to bed?”

Ria kissed his back and licked a slow trail down his spine. “Hours ago. Did we tucker out the poor little sex demon?”

“Not hardly, dead girl.”

She grabbed a fistful of his hair and turned him to face her. “That’s undead girl, thank you.” She bit his lower lip and let it drag between her teeth. “Show us what you’ve got left.”

I am a Romance author in the Erotic genre. At this time I am writing my first Vampire Romance Series Ronna Gage Vampire Chronicles.

Now I have a few questions for you – I have found readers do like to know fun things about us writers.

1.) Who is your favorite villain – it can be from a book (even one of yours), movie or TV show. And why?

My favorite villain. I keep coming back to the same guy.  Craig Bierko, he played Timothy in the Long Kiss Good Night.

2.) Who is your favorite character out of your books? Why?

Marty Novak, my hero vampire. He’s nothing I’ve ever created, or associated with before. He is the angry part of me, the wild side of me, and the loving part of me at the same time in a twisted inner turmoil of mess.

3.) What do genre do you write? What made you pick that one?

Right now I write in the Erotic/Erotica Romance genre. I chose it because at the time it was wide open for new authors. At first I was a little uncomfortable saying the euphemisms for body parts, but Sylvia Day told me if you can think it you can write it.

4.) What are you working on now?

I am working on the third installment of the vampire series. Living the American Dream. The second installment, Coming to America should be out the latter part of June.

5.) What got you to start writing?

I am a day dreamer, so I started writing my little adventures down and my cousins told me to write them down, so I did, and the rest as they say is history.

6.) Where do you get your ideas from?

Day dreams, at night when I cannot get to sleep, I tell myself a story, or teach a class. I used to be a teacher and would go over what needed to be done for the next day’s lesson in my head. Many times I put myself in the book.

7.) What would people who read your work be surprised to find out about you?

I’m strong, independent, and I fight for it. I am legally blind so what I used to do, like teaching, I can’t do anymore because students will take advantage.

8.) Do you have any special talents?

I can sing. I like to listen to music while I write, next thing I know, I am singing. LOL.

9.) What was the one piece of advice you received when you were an aspiring author that has stuck with

you? Why?

It takes time to build a fan base. Can take up to 5 or 10 years, must stick with it.

10.) If you could talk to any famous figure (present, past or fictional) who would it be and what would

you talk about?

I would like to Jesus Christ. I have a testimony of his life as a teacher.

11.) What song would you say describes your life?

Tom Jones’ She’s a Lady.

12.) If you could come back as any animal – what would it be?

A Savannah cat.

Tell us about your latest release. 

The third in my unique series about good vampires who safeguard humans is "Immortal Relations Coming Out" and as the title implies they discuss the benefits versus the risks in allowing humans to know that they are more than fiction, myth and legend. They saved mankind from a potential thermonuclear war as well as two ecological disasters in book two, "Immortal Relations, Love and War" so it seems timely to discuss the possibility of forming a strong bond between the species. Human fears, born of the actions of ancient bloodthirsty vampires argue against coming out to humans. However, seeing human governments sliding back toward the abyss of dictatorships, something must be done, so a coven is established in Southern-Canada to monitor the situation in the not so "united" United States.   

Now I have a few questions for you – I have found readers do like to know fun things about us writers. 

1.) Who is your favorite author? Do you feel you write like them? 

The late Tom Clancy was, in my eyes, the ultimate writer of military-political action novels. He also joined with several other authors to publish similar books who continue to develop those stories. My works are in the paranormal-romance genre' but they have military and political components as my vampires do operate in the modern world to safeguard mankind, often from the efforts of evil politicians to enslave those people they should be serving. I'd love to have my stories compared to Clancy's; however, I fear no one can equal the depth of his writing style! 

2.) What was your favorite book growing up? 

J. R. R. Tolkin's "Lord of the Rings" trilogy. The details in the story of "Middle Earth" about the forces of good versus evil was so intriguing to my young mind that I read each novel and the prequel, "The Hobbit" many times - 'til dog-eared pages fell from their bindings.  

3.) Are you a plotter or a pantser and why did you choose that method? 

The stories develop in my mind while I'm in a dreaming sleep and while I'm actually writing, so I'd say pantser. As far as "choosing" the method, it feels more like the method chose me. 

4.) Do you consider writing a career or a hobby? Why?

 Hmmm...how about a duty? I've seen and done a lot during my military career and later working in psychology so I feel I have a responsibility to present some of what I learned, hopefully in engaging storylines. 

5.) What are you working on now? 

I'm researching for a novel about time-travel back to the age of dinosaurs. I'm writing it because my granddaughter LOVES dinosaurs and I want to write it for her.  

6.) What one piece of advice would you like to pass on to an up and coming author? 

Write what you are interested in not what you think others want to read...not everyone is going to like what you write, but as long as you like it don't be deterred.  

7.) If you had the ability to time travel and your first visit was to see a younger version of yourself what would you say to that younger self?

 Spend more time with your wife and children rather than so much over-time in the military. 

8.) You just got a million dollars, whether it’s from an inheritance, the lottery, or a sweet book deal doesn’t matter. What would be the first thing you would buy for yourself? 

About 120 acres of land where I and the children and grandchildren could build houses and be close enough to help each other (plus we'd get to babysit more often)! 

9.) If you could un-invent one thing in the world what would it be? 

Methamphetamines - they have ruined far too many young lives! 

10.) What is your favorite movie/TV Show? Why? 

The Vampire Dairies. Because it shows that there is hope that some vampires can become good!

Excerpt (from pages 147-149): Vlad Dracula is talking with one of his newest vampire friends, Gary Logan. Vlad has explained how he and other of the oldest vampires have progressed to the point where they need little if any blood. Gary has asked why the out-of-control vampires continue to attack humans. 

Vlad replies (through thought transference) “They get a thrill from the hunt and then, as the life drains from their victims, it provides a rush from the feeling of power over the living.”
 
Gary: “If I may be so bold, have you had such feelings in the past?”

Vlad smiled and nodded slowly, "It was a very, very long time ago Gary. We were fighting what you would call 'an asymmetrical war' against Sultan Mehmet the Conqueror and his Muslim invaders who outnumbered us at least three to one. I was looking for anything to slow them down. I guess you would say I used psychological warfare by building the 'forest' of impaled enemy soldiers we had defeated in previous battles. While we had numerous successes against units of the invaders we unfortunately were unable to hold off so large an invading army. It was about this time I was changed into what I am today. I was always in the front lines of battle and routinely soaked in blood. Perhaps that is what changed me into a vampire. One of my own Generals saw me surrounded by enemies and saw blood spurting up in the air. Thinking it was my blood he sent word that I'd been killed. My dear wife was distraught and threw herself from the heights of our Poenari Castle into the Arges River below.

Then my second cousin, Matthias Corvinus, King of Hungary, from whom I had sought help in prosecuting the war, imprisoned me. Locked away, I soon became crazed with the desire for blood I would have otherwise found on the battlefield. Many fellow prisoners died because of it and after my escape I was a plague on the land. It took all too long before I regained some sense of my lost humanity.”

With downcast eyes Vlad thought, “Which is where the myths, legends and stories about me started – I’m afraid I earned them all.”


I reached over and patted him on the arm saying, “I’m sorry I brought up a topic that has induced clearly painful memories for you.”


Vlad smiled at me, “No, it is alright. If you haven’t heard the story before I think you need to know the type of vampire you follow. I hope it won’t detract from our relationship.”


“Never fear of my continued admiration and respect for you. You were a great leader fighting to free your people from an oppressive invader. Since you had no one to guide you after you were changed, as a ‘newborn’ vampire you did what came naturally. However, it begs the question, how did you stop?”


“I married again and she helped me overcome the constant thirst, giving me some of her own blood, and she brought me back to God.”


With tears in my eyes I thought, in reply to Vlad, “Women are clearly the superior gender, without them we men would be little better than wild beasts. “

Bio

Born in Washington D.C. during WW-II, I attended Washington and Lee High among other schools in the area before my parents moved us to Northern California where I ran track and cross-country. I received an Associates degree from Foothill J.C. then transferred to Texas Christian University where I received my Bachelors and commission in the USAF. I did a lot of writing while in the service, was stationed in many parts of the world and received a Masters from Ball State University's European Campus. After retiring, I finished a second Masters at Hardin-Simmons University (none of these were in English or Literature as my novels will attest). I then worked in the field of psychology both in a clinical setting and with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. I live in West Texas with my wife of 47 years and our three Pomeranians. Writing and reading are a passion along with a few antique automobiles and  muscle cars.

Thanks for hosting me! I’ll give the informal intro, then the “grown up” bio. I’m a total geek and creative nerd. I write fiction and nonfiction, I paint, I’m a graphic designer, I teach workshops on facilitation and leadership. And, when I have the time, I plan events and do things like building life-size replicas of Jabba the Hutt for themed parties.

Shauna Aura Knight: An artist, author, and presenter, Shauna’s creative work is inspired by awakening mythic imagination and the shadows we each face. My newest book is A Fading Amaranth. Nathaniel’s been a vampire long enough to grow weary of glamoured seduction, and he’s lost his poetic muse. He meets reclusive artist Alexandra—her telepathy has overwhelmed her for years, and she can bear no one’s touch. However, she can’t hear Nathaniel’s thoughts, and she’s immune to his vampire glamour. During scorching nights together, they rediscover their passion for life.

When a Faerie creature stalks Alexandra, the lovers find themselves snared in a paranormal battle alongside Chicago’s mage guardians. Worse, Nathan’s rising bloodlust places Alexandra in danger. Will she master her abilities before going insane? What will they risk to be together?

1.) Who is your favorite villain – it can be from a book (even one of yours), movie or TV show. And why?

Darth Vader. He starts out so very bad, so easy to hate. And then, at the end, just when you’re all excited and thinking yeah—he’s going to get his butt kicked…then he goes and turns against the Emperor to save Luke. And then you see beneath the mask, and realize what a completely tragic figure he is. Since then, I certainly love a good villain, but I have a special place in my heart for the villains who are as tragic as that.

2.) Who is your favorite character out of your books? Why?

This is such a tough question because I connect to all of my characters so much. I really like Nathaniel from A Fading Amaranth, and the mage guardians Jocelyn and the Walker who are side characters in that story but who star in my longer urban fantasy series I’m working on. However, I’d have to say my favorite main character so far would have to be Sonya from The Truth Upon Her Lips, which is my book that will be coming out in about a month. Sonya’s not your simpering heroine; she’s strong and kick butt. Her magical powers threaten to overwhelm her, and she faces some pretty titanic magical forces from those who stand against her, but she doesn’t back down.

3.) What do genre do you write? What made you pick that one?

Paranormal romance, urban fantasy, epic fantasy, some dystopian and space opera. Basically, anything speculative and fantastical. I’ve always enjoyed fantasy and sci-fi, I’ve never been interested in contemporary fiction. Give me a movie with spaceships or magic any time. Chick flicks? Not so much. I was raised on Star Wars and Star Trek and the Dark Crystal and Labyrinth, and books by Anne McCaffrey and David Eddings and Mercedes Lackey. That’s the stuff that I find fascinating.

4.) What are you working on now?

The Truth Upon Her Lips, Book One of the Roses Rising, is coming out soon, and I’m in the finishing phases of A Golden Heart of Glass and A Winter Knight’s Silence, but I’m also working on Book Two of the Roses Rising, Until She Wakes From Sleep. I also have a longer urban fantasy series that explores the psychic mage characters introduced in my book A Fading Amaranth. These stores all feature romance, heroes, magic powers, gods and goddesses, and some vampires, shifers, and a bit of old fairytale magic.

5.) What got you to start writing?

My parents both worked at a bookstore when I was a kid, and they read a lot of sci-fi and fantasy.  I mowed through their book collection as a kid. I wanted to be a writer from about third grade onward when I started writing short stories in English class, and I started writing my first novel when I was twelve, a science fiction story. I’ve been writing ever since, it’s just that I’ve only started publishing my work in recent years.

6.) Where do you get your ideas from?

Often from dreams; I frequently have these massive, epic dreams. Swordfighting and space battles and magic. A lot of my fiction ideas come from that. Other ideas come from “what if.” Werewolves in the Kitchen came from a “what if” moment while I was doing my laundry. The Truth Upon Her Lips came from a “what if” moment while I was standing on the side of the road after I’d been in a car accident that totaled my car. What if…there was a really sexy EMT? What if…the woman in the car had precognition, but it had suddenly failed her? The story pretty much wrote itself from there.

The story for A Fading Amaranth came from two scene snippets I wrote years and years ago. The first scene was a vampire trying to glamour a woman in an alley; she wouldn’t go under his hypnosis magic and he was snarling and frustrated. The other scene was a vampire with a woman in her bed, trying not to bite his lover. Those scenes didn’t seem to be about the same characters at first, but once I figured out the storyline thread between them, that’s where the story took shape.

7.) What would people who read your work be surprised to find out about you?

I write pretty spicy romance that often features Pagan characters, or various kinds of magic…but what I also do professionally is teach leadership and facilitation, particularly within the modern Pagan community. I write everything under the same name, though I have a few different blogs so people can focus on my fiction or my nonfiction. People who know me largely as someone who teaches Pagan leadership are sometimes surprised to find out that I write romance and fantasy novels. And people who meet me in my role as a public speaker are often shocked to find out that I am an introvert and actually pretty shy!

8.) Do you have any special talents?

I keep pretty busy; along with being a writer of fiction and nonfiction, I’m also an artist, a graphic designer, a professional presenter and public speaker, and I’ve done theatrical design and event planning. As I mentioned earlier, I’ve built some crazy things like a life-size Jabba and a reproduction of the Carbonite Chamber from Star Wars. I love planning events, I just wish I had bigger budgets to do them properly. I’d love to organize a Faerie masquerade ball in the Midwest.

9.) What was the one piece of advice you received when you were an aspiring author that has stuck with you? Why?

I went to a lot of scifi/fantasy conventions in my twenties and attended a lot of author panels, and I heard a lot of really great advice so it’s hard to boil it down to just one piece. I can encapsulate it this way; keep writing and learn how to be a better writer. If you’re really serious about writing, learn how to do it well and keep at it. I don’t want to put forth the “anyone can do this, just keep at it” advice, because I don’t think that’s true; not everyone is going to have the skill as a writer to do a good job at it. And not everyone is going to have the patience and perseverance to keep at it. And some writers aren’t going to be able to handle a serious edit of their work—and trust me, everyone’s work needs an editor. So yes—do keep at it, but if you’re really serious, also be willing to do the work to learn your craft and become a better writer.

10.) If you could talk to any famous figure (present, past or fictional) who would it be and what would you talk about?

Growing up, I was a big-time nerd for history, and a lot of my heroes and role models were people like Einstein and other scientists. I’ve always been particularly fascinated by scientists who sacrificed their own health and wellbeing to learn more about the universe, like the Curies. I’m also fascinated by military strategists. So who I’d pick really depends on the day. Today I’d pick Rumi or William Butler Yeats. I’d love to talk to them about the mystical inspirations of their poetry.

11.) What song would you say describes your life?

This is so hard because I really love music; in fact, I obsessively create soundtracks for each of my stories. I don’t know that this song describes my life, but I often write to it; Queste Saranno by Origa. Or Inner Universe by Origa.

12.) If you could come back as any animal – what would it be?

Cat. No brainer. Actually, I’m pretty sure I’m halfway a cat already. Maybe a great cat, which would be slightly more majestic than a house cat. Well, sometimes they are more regal….I am working up a freebie short story I’ll give away to folks who join my email newsletter; the story focuses on wereleopard Kade from The Truth Upon Her Lips around Halloween. Excerpt from A Fading Amaranth:

“I must go now,” Nathaniel rasped. He had to, or he risked biting her whether or not she was glamoured. Yet he couldn’t stand the thought of leaving Alexandra there, of not tasting her. There was something about her, something that made him want…he didn’t even know what he wanted. Given his life, it probably wasn’t something he could have. “I have to find…I have to feed.” His hands shook. That was a bad sign.

 “All you had to do was ask.”

He looked up at Alexandra in surprise. “What?”

She took a step closer to him, and he caught her wrist, unable to resist scenting her again. She wasn’t overcome with lust in the way she would be under his hypnosis, but she did want him. When they touched, he could feel her attraction to him growing. Fascinating, he thought, that he could sense her feelings like that, even though he couldn’t bring her under.

He wanted her so badly he burned, but it wasn’t just his teeth, his blood. He wanted her in a way he hadn’t desired a woman in years. He ached to kiss her. Could he do it without biting her?

With the blood hunger riding him, could he stop himself from trying?

“I’m sorry,” he whispered.

She caught at his wrist, and he looked at her in surprise. “Don’t go.”

“I must. I have to go. Quickly.”

“Am I right that you only take a small amount of blood? Is what I sensed correct?”

“Yes,” he hissed as she stepped closer.

“Just ask.” She reached up to caress his cheek, and he barely suppressed a flinch.

“I cannot, my lady. You are not susceptible to….It will hurt. I cannot allow that,” he said, though he still found his head dipping down to her. He had no idea how he was even coherent; his vision hazed with red, throbbing to the beat of the pulse in her neck.

“Oh.”

He couldn’t resist nuzzling his cheek against hers, brushing his lips across her neck. Ah, the taste of her. He pulled back, shaking, and she reached up to pull him closer. He shut his eyes and gave in, kissing her, trying to keep his fangs from cutting her lip. Moaning, she kissed him back, pulling herself against him until he wrenched himself back. “I must go,” he snarled. Her desire nearly shattered his control completely.

I want to welcome G.D. Ogan. First I’d love you to introduce yourself.

While now a "senior citizen," I'm somewhat of a novice when it comes to writing fiction. However, I wrote a good deal during my 20+ years in the service on military procedures, and during a second career in the field of psychology, as well as writing for automotive and running magazines (for fun).

Tell us about your latest release.

"Immortal Relations Coming Out" is the third in my paranormal romance "Immortal Relations" series. While each book stands alone, I think it's best to read the second to get the most out of the third, since there is so much action in the second book that relates to the third. My guardian vampires, having saved mankind from nuclear war as well as two potential ecological disasters in the second book, are discussing "coming out" to the human population (telling them that vampires really do exist and its been these good vampires who have saved mankind). Being sworn to protect innocent humans from the blood-thirsty type of vampires as well as criminals and evil politicians, our good vampires set up a new coven in Southern Canada to monitor an evil regime that appears dedicated to destroying America. This same regime, has reason to believe that this group setting up shop in Canada was involved in defeating the Communist Chinese invasion of Siberia, so they are showing signs of being willing to attack the group in Canada. Things get "fast and furious" from this point forward, yet there is time for a good deal of love.

Now I have a few questions for you – I have found readers do like to know fun things about us writers.

1.) Who is your favorite villain – it can be from a book (even one of yours), movie or TV show. And why?

Vlad Dracula is normally portrayed as the ultimate villain in vampire books; however, in my novels he has been reformed (by his lovely wife of course) and is now a champion of the vampires seeking to safeguard innocent humans.

2.) Who is your favorite character out of your books? Why?

That is a close one! I love Vladimir Kolukov, who in the first book is the leading General Officer in the Russian Federation and later becomes a Field Marshal. In the second book, he is suffering from terminal cancer but accepts the offer tendered by our good vampires to "change" him in order to save Russian Siberia from a Chinese invasion. He quickly becomes the President of Russia when terrorists wipe out the Russian government. To watch him in action is to grow to love him! However, I have a vested interest in Gary Logan, the human who fell in love with a lady vampire and thus volunteered to become one himself in order to stay with her throughout eternity. Quirky and with thinking that is definitely "outside the box," Gary is often laughable in his efforts to please the two ladies who changed him. He considers his masters  much to their consternation. Yet when the proverbial poop hits the fan it is Gary's extensive military knowledge and out of-the-box thinking that allows the cavalry to arrive in time to save the day! Were it not for the fact that Gary's character is actually that of the author (myself) I think Kolukov might win out on favorite character.

3.) What do genre do you write? What made you pick that one?

When I was...what shall we call it..."transcribing" the first book (my muse was busy dictating the storyline and telling me all about each of the characters), I considered it a "kick-ass" action story. It was an editor who told me what I had was a "paranormal romance" (who knew?!). I bowed to his judgement so I call it paranormal action or his choice, paranormal romance (since that is one of the more normal categories).

4.) What are you working on now?

I've been toying with the idea for a book to be read to children about time-travel back to the age of dinosaurs. My six-year-old granddaughter is crazy about dinosaurs so I have a portion of a book drafted that puts her (and myself) in the action of helping a paleontologist friend design and construct a time-machine. Lots of action in this, even before an unexpected event causes the machine to whisk the three of us back in time. (that is as far as I've gotten to date). I have a good amount of research already done on which epoch we will visit and what proto-dinosaurs we will see before we move forward in time into the Jurassic...then there will be more action of the running and screaming kind I feel sure! (-:

5.) What got you to start writing?

I'm sure you've heard of "Writer's Block." I have the opposite problem, an over-active imagination (along with that "out-of-the-box-thinking") so I've always been day-dreaming and started writing down some of my thoughts fairly early. Being involved in long-distance running, I would submit articles about the events and these were routinely published in magazines like "The Long Distance Log" and my interest in automobiles had me writing for "Cruisin' Style Magazine"...I'd rather WRITE than speak, so I've gravitated to jobs that allowed me to do a lot of writing. Procedural writing in the military, including what to do in various emergency situations. I wrote treatment programs and then performed psychological intakes in a couple of my jobs with the Texas Prison System.  

6.) Where do you get your ideas from?

As mentioned above, my overactive imagination forces me to filter out the MANY ideas and scenarios fighting for attention and inclusion in my writings. With my military background as well as what is happening in this country and around the world, ideas are always popping into my consciousness, plus I do a lot of reading in diverse scientific and technical areas, as well as historical books to go along with my love of the paranormal genre. I'm just finishing up reading "Berlin Diary, The Journal of a Foreign Correspondent..." Being a student of history, with a love of reading about the causes of the madness of World War Two, this book helps fill in some of the missing events, glossed over by the large historical tomes. Granted, it is just one man's opinions of what went on; however, since he was working as a correspondent in the various capitals of Europe as the war-clouds gathered, the book provides an almost daily view of where the failures occurred and whose fault it was.  

7.) What would people who read your work be surprised to find out about you?

I think my strong feelings of patriotism come out in my writing; however, I'm very libertarian in many areas, especially in what I call "explicit togetherness," which I feel is a nicer term for "sex." 8.) Do you have any special talents?

 Well, I used to be a fairly good long-distance-runner; however, too many miles on the legs forced me to give that up in my advancing age. I also was a fair shot with rifle and handgun, but my eyesight isn't what it used to be, although I can still cover seven shots on a target shot at 21 feet using my Custom1911 Colt .45 with a silver-dollar, using bullets I've loaded myself.

9.) What was the one piece of advice you received when you were an aspiring author that has stuck with you? Why?

Well I'll leave out the expletive, but I was told "Write what you like and don't let the b       's get you down!"

10.) If you could talk to any famous figure (present, past or fictional) who would it be and what would you talk about?

Sir Winston Churchill, I'd love to listen to him talk in detail about his part of WW-II. I firmly believe without his "bulldog" like tenacity and leadership, England and perhaps most, if not all of the civilized world would have fallen to the dictators in Germany, Japan and Italy. Dictators are on the rise around the world (and close to home) again and I'd certainly talk to him about that as well!

11.) What song would you say describes your life?

 While I think everyone goes through hard-times at some points in their lives (I know I have) but overall I would think Debussy's "Ode to Joy" is mine!

12.) If you could come back as any animal – what would it be?

One of our Pomeranians, we have loved those dogs like they were our own children and they have given us equal if not greater love in return!

Immortal Relations Coming Out continues the Immortal Relations series. After saving mankind from a war with the potential of going nuclear, as well as other potential disasters, the guardian vampires consider the positives and negatives of "coming out" to humans. But unforseen events make the discussion moot and threaten the existance of the guardians from several quarters. Just when all seems lost, a greater threat presents itself, providing our good vampires an opportunity to prove their worth once again to possibly change peoples views that vampires might not all be an evil threat.
